Nikon D300s announced

Nikon D300sNikon just announced the D300s. Compared to the D300, the D300s offers a new EXPEED processor, 720p HD video recording, a faster 7 fps continuous shooting and dual CF and SD card slots, Quiet drive mode and a dedicated Live View and Info button. The camera's recommended selling price is $1799 in US and €1799 in Europe. In addition for this release were announced the Nikon D3000 and 2 new lenses, the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200MM 
F/3.5-5.6G ED VR II and Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200MM F/2.8G ED VR II.

Celebrate the Sea Festival Manila

Digidiver chronicler Cris deLeon-Hinlo attended the 'Celebrate the Sea' Festival held at the Manila's Ocean Park on June 12-14, 2009, The event brought together some of the world’s best known underwater image makers and scientists for lectures, forums and social events to raise the 'public’s interest' , to promote the beauty of the sea and to highlight the preservation of remaining resources through the art of underwater imagery.

Forums this year focused on a wide range of topics such as marine conservation, animals in captivity, global ocean changes, impact of tourism on the marine environment, and ways to save sharks from their present plight.

The David Doubilet interview

Just mention the name, David Doubilet, in any conversation, and most likely some, if not all of the people, whether a diver or not would be familiar with this multi-talented photographer’s work. Aside from authoring seven books and winning countless prestigious awards, David is one of the most prolific photographers at National Geographic, having documented a record-breaking 70 stories for them since he joined them in 1971. He became the National Geographic Society’s photographer-in-residence in 2001. He is a member of the International Diving Hall of Fame. His images are treasured for the scientific value and of course their aesthetic beauty.

Celebrate The Sea - Merit of Excellence

ross_header_shotRoss Gudgeon (Gudge), Digidiver technical administrator, has just bagged himself honours at the Celebrate the Sea (CTS) underwater photography contest by winning a Merit of Excellence in the Color Prints category.

Celebrate the Sea contest held recently in Manila and judged by notorieties Peter Scoones, Phil Nyutten, David Doubilet, Daniel Mecier, Michael Aw and Scott Tuason.

With this win, Ross is adding yet another Philippines trip to the one he clinched in the Digidiver 'Best Shots' contest a little while ago. See the magical shots below. The winning image was the Grouper with the two cleaner wrasse. Great job Ross !
